Iceland: Outlook for lower herring quota in 2011

The ICES (International Council for Exploration of the Seas) has recently made known its recommendation for total quota of Norwegian-Icelandic herring in 2011, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Iceland Seafood International.

The total quantity is 988,000 tons of which Iceland´s share would be 143,000 tons (14.5 %).  The total quantity for 2010 is 1,500,000 tons, of which 215,000 tons go to Iceland.  It must be noted that the nations taking part in this fishery are yet to sit down and and reach an agreement on distribution of the final quota.  (skip.is).
