Iceland: New director at the Directorate of Fisheries

Eythor Bjornsson has been appointed director of the Directorate of Fisheries which manages fishing by Icelandic vessels on behalf of the Ministry of Fisheries, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Iceland Seafood International.

Mr Bjornsson, who has been five years with the Directorate, takes over from Jon Muli Jonasson who stepped down to take up the position of mayor at Akranes, a town just north of Reykjavik.

Mr Bjornsson has a degree in fisheries from the University of Akureyri and an MBA from the University of Iceland in Reykjavik.  He also has a captain´s licence and has been 15 years at sea.
