Frozen fish market situation in Murmansk as per early September
In early September the frozen fish stocks have been moving poorly on the wholesale market in Russia's North Basin, market players based in Murmansk told http://www.fishnet-russia.com/ (https://www.fishnet.ru/) recently.
Thanks to good catches of herring 200-300, its price has gone down. The prices on blue whiting have stayed high due to decreasing catches volumes (47,000 tonnes less) in comparison with the 8 months of the year 2006. As per early September the dedicated blue whiting fishery was not conducted with the species harvested only as bycatch.
The price of headed mackerel 200-300 decreased, but the price of mackerel 300+ increased by 1 - 3%.
Price of spotted sea cat and rough dab also lowered slightly.
The demand is generally not high. For example, demand for mackerel is low due to the fact that fish processors are waiting for first landings of mackerel from Norway.
