Frozen fish market situation in Murmansk as per 25 September 2007
As per 25 September 2007 blue whiting prices have been tending to grow. The development is connected with the shortage of this resource, market players based in Murmansk told http://www.fishnet-russia.com/ (https://www.fishnet.ru/). Traders forecast further price growth as big landings are not expected. Fleets are still harvesting herring actively while not conducting any dedicated blue whiting fishery. The blue whiting by-catch is less than 1000 tonnes a week. Buyers are ready to purchase blue whiting at a price of 21.00-22.00 RUR per kilo.
There are hardly any offers of mackerel, as there are no significant landings.
Low catches of herring 200-300 grams have lead to the price growth of this count while the price of herring 300+ is falling. In Norwegian catches large herring 300+ and 350+ is dominating.
There are few offers of cod, and traders are expecting a price rise.
