Frozen fish market situation in Murmansk as per 11 November 2008
As per 11 November 2008 the fresh frozen fish market situation has been marked by certain changes, market players based in Murmansk told http://www.fishnet-russia.com/ (https://www.fishnet.ru/).
This year the polar cod (Boreogadus saida) fishery has started later than usual. However, the first offers of this species have already appeared. Namely, the polar cod has been marketed at the level RUB14.00 - 15.00, ex-vessel. The first landings in Murmansk are expected to start on 12 November 2008.
The prices of small herring have decreased slightly while the price of large-sized herring has come up. The volume of Russian herring 300+ in the Murmansk shipments has still amounted to a small share. The herring of this size has been of good demand but the regional wholesalers are not ready to pay such high prices.
Traditionally, the demand for bottom fish species has been growing. The regional wholesalers have been preparing to the active trade with the New Year coming.
