Sea of Okhotsk Fishery Coordination Center began to work
Russia’s Federal Agency for Fisheries hosted the first meeting of Sea of Okhotsk Fishery Coordination Center for A-season 2021. Special attention was paid to ensuring the safety of navigation at fishing grounds, as well as the situation with cargoes discharge in the ports of China, reports Megafishnet.com.
Opening the meeting, the deputy head of the Federal Agency for Fishery Petr Savchuk noted the need to fulfill all the established measures to organize the safety of navigation, taking into account prevailing meteorological conditions, ice conditions and the threat of ice formation in the fishing ground. It was decided at the meeting to ensure the second rescue vessel arrival to the expedition area as soon as possible. The rescuer Sibirskiy, accompanying the expedition, is currently continuing to carry out diving operations to free the propeller-steering group of the Geroi Damanskogo trawler from fishing gear.
As for the suspension of fish products unloading in the ports of China, the meeting decided to collect information on the free cold storage facilities available in Russia and to intensify efforts to attract fish processors in Russia.
As of January 10, Alaska pollock catch totaled 57.9 thousand tons (77.9% of the level of the same period last year). 50 thousand tons (77.4%) were harvested in the Sea of Okhotsk, particularly, total catch in Kamchatka-Kuril and West Kamchatka subzones amounted to 42.6 thousand tons (73.4%), in East Sakhalin subzone - 1 thousand tons (31.25%), in the South Kuril zone - 2 thousand tons (111.1%), in North Sea of Okhotsk subzone - 6.4 thousand tons (188.2%), in East Kamchatka subzone - 2.2 thousand tons (220%), in Petropavlovsko-Komandorskaya subzone - 1.7 thousand tons (170% of the 2019 level).
