Icelandic fish catches in September 2011

Total catch of Icelandic vessels in September 2011 was 105,755 tonnes compared to 93,764 tonnes in September 2010, reports www.megafishnet.com.

Demersal species accounted for nearly 31 thousand tonnes, thereof cod nearly 14 thousand tonnes, haddock nearly 4 thousand tonnes, redfish nearly 5 thousand tonnes and saithe nearly 4 thousand tonnes. The pelagic catch was 71 thousand tonnes, thereof herring 48 thousand tonnes and mackerel 21 thousand tonnes.

At constant prices the volume of the catch increased by 0.8% in September 2011 compared with September 2010. In the first nine months of 2011 the value of catch increased by 1.0% compared with the same time-period in 2010.
