HB Grandi's Vopnafjördur factory has been making some great progress freezing capelin and herring. Ingunn AK and Lundey NS have been fishing capelin while Faxi RE has been fishing herring in Breidafjördur with catches landed for production at Vopnafjördur, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to HB Grandi.

‘These last few days we have seen some real pressure in the capelin production. We are grading the larger fish of 30 to 40 per kilo out for freezing, which is around a third of what we have been receiving,' factory manager Magnús Róbertsson said.

Ingunn was in port at Vopnafjördur on Thursday, with 750 tonne of capelin. Now Lundey has also arrived with 1050 tonnes of capelin on board which is expected to take 48 hours to process. According to Magnús Róbertsson, HB Grandi's vessels have landed 3500 tonnes of capelin so far this season.

Faxi's latest herring landing was complete on Thursday, with the entire 680 tonnes processed into 325 tonnes of frozen products. Magnús Róbertsson said that the herring has been excellent quality for production and has been processed into butterfly fillets and frozen.
