Russian salmon season officially winding up
Officially, the Russian salmon season is ending on November 30 in the Southern Kuril Islands, according to VNIRO.
The total catch of Pacific salmon in the Far Eastern Fisheries basin according to the data of the territorial administrations of the Federal Fisheries Agency as of 11/25/2024 amounted to 235,435 metric tons, the deviation from forecast expectations being at the level of 26.4%.
The distribution of regions by catch volume has not undergone any changes. Fishermen of the Kamchatka Territory produced 55.5% or 130,763 tons of salmon, in second place – the Sakhalin Region (22.8% or 53,588 tons), in third place – the Khabarovsk Territory (16.9% or 39,884 tons). The total catch in the Magadan Region, Primorsky Krai and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug amounted to 11,198 tons.
To date, the structure of the Pacific salmon harvest in terms of species is as follows: pink salmon - 136,218 tons, chum salmon – 54,630 tons, sockeye salmon – 35,948 tons, chinook salmon – 8,277 tons, chinook salmon – 321 tons, sims – 41 tons.
