Russian fishermen invited to apply for quotas in Moroccan fishing zone

Russia’s Federal Agency for Fishery (FAF) has invited fishermen to apply for quota shares for harvesting pelagic species in Morocco’s Atlantic Fishing Zone, reports Megafishnet.com.

According to FAF, it will receive applications from April 26 to May 18 inclusive. The total annual quota will amount to 140 thousand metric tons. The composition of catches in the first year of the agreement is as follows: sardine and sardinella-23%, mackerel, horse mackerel and anchovy-75%, by-catch-2%.

The catch limits are provided to Russia under the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco on Cooperation in the field of Marine Fisheries of September 14, 2020 and October 14, 2020.
