In April 2021 Russian fleets continued targeting herring, Northern blue whiting and black halibut in the Norwegian Sea, reports Megafishnet.com.

According to Fishnet.ru, in April 2021 7 Kaliningrad-based vessels and 8 vessels coming from Murmansk were targeting blue whiting in the waters of the Faroese Islands. In the first ten days of the month under analysis, the fishery situation in the area was unstable. After the first approaches of migrating concentrations of spent blue whiting on 12 April, the fishery conditions grew much better.

The blue whiting catch in the area in April 2021 amounted to 46,000 tonnes (+44,300 tonnes). The total catch from the beginning of the year amounted to 54,200 tonnes (34% of the Russian quota for blue whiting capture in the Faroese waters, namely 82,000 tonnes). In 2020 the respective result by the same day of the year was 54,100 tonnes.
