Pacific salmon season in Russia’s Far East running ahead of 2017

As per 27 August 2019 total catches of Pacific salmons in the Russian Far East reached 420 thousand metric tons, 46% up on the respective result of 2017.

In Kamchatka salmon catches jumped by 58% to 368.4 thousand tonnes. In Magadan the fishermen harvested 9,400 tonnes, 67% up on 2017.

In Sakhalin the catch decreased by 11% to 21,600 tonnes; in Khabarovsk the harvest was recorded at 15,600 tonnes (-27.4% year-on-year).

About 6.6 tonnes were harvested in Vladivostok-led Primorye, more than 7-fold on 2017.
