Enhance seafood safety and hygiene inspection

Mr. Phung Huu Hao, Deputy Department of National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance (NAFIQAD) said, this year, NAFIQAD will enhance food safety and hygiene inspection for seafood processing plants with the high frequency, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to VASEP.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Department (MARD) proposed key provincial People's Committee to strongly implement the measures to strengthen and control the local establishments of purchasing and preprocessing; also required provincial People's Committee to instruct various local levels to seriously review and have responsibilities for the manner of foreign matter injection into raw shrimp; the production and trading of foreign matter injected shrimp.

MARD required NAFIQAD to coordinate with local authorities to hold the inspection for preprocessing establishments in Ca Mau, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu and Kien Giang. NAFIQAD is responsible for building and submitting MARD to issue Decision on inspecting and certifying the quality, food hygiene and safety for all consignments of shrimp prior to exporting to international markets.
