June 5, 2007 16:27

In the recent months the Russian market has been seeing a rising demand for fishmeal in keeping with the positive international trend. This is connected with a fast development of several sectors of the agriculture industry where fishmeal is widely used for feeding along with other alternatives.

In particular, according to the forecasts of a number of Russian departments and research institutes, taking into account the rising poultry livestock in 2007 the Russian chicken farms will need ca.600,000-700,000 tonnes of fishmeal, or nearly 15% up on 2006. In the meantime, ca.50-60% of the nation's fishmeal need is covered by imported products.
