Deadline for restrictions of seafood importation from Thailand postponed

June 25, 2007 12:07

Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Rosselkhoznadzor and Thai Ministry of Trade have discussed a number of issues connected with seafood shipments from Thailand to Russia, according to late-June release of Rosselkhoznadzor.

The Thai side has agreed that Rosselkhoznadzor should check Thai fish processing plants willing to export their products to Russia.

Thailand has asked the Russian vets to postpone introduction of measures allowing Thai seafood importation only from plants included in Rosselkhoznadzor's approval list. In the coming weeks the Russian vets are expecting lists of Thai food safety and quality laboratories of those fish processors willing to export their products to Russia.

The dates for Russian vets' trips to Thailand aimed at inspecting the labs and plants will be agreed later, according to the press-service of Rosselkhoznadzor.
