Crab stocks growing in Primorye

Scientists from Vladivostok-based TINRO-Centre research institute recommend resumption of the commercial red king crab fishery in the north of Primorye, reports www.fishnet-russia.com (www.fishnet.ru) with reference to Vostok-Media.

In connection with possible opening of the snow crab opilio fishery in the south sector of the Primorye subarea from the Povorotnyi Cape to the Zolotoy Cape TINRO-Centre has approved increase of the TAC 2010 by 161 tonnes. Thus, the TAC for the year 2010 will amount to 322 tonnes, including 300 tonnes to be harvested by commercial fishermen and 22 tonnes to be harvested for research purposes.
