Murmanfishproducts Ltd has signed a contract to build a 35-meter wet trawler for inshore fishery in the Barents Sea. The boat will help the fishermen to boost its onshore fillet production, reports Megafishnet.com.

She is to be delivered within June 2022 by ROSTR shipyard based in Novaya Ladoga near St-Petersburg. The yard includes an engineering center, 180-metre dry dock and 300-metre slipway, the production area comprising more than 10 000 sq. m.

According to General director Alexander Luntsevich quoted by TASS, the trawler will operate on inshore quotas, the inshore fishery and landing of fresh catch for processing in Russia being encouraged by the government with an extra allocation of fishing rights.  The catch will be processed at the company’s existing factory turning out and successfully marketing 2.5 thousand metric tons of fish fillets per year.

With the commissioning of the trawler the next step will be to upgrade the plant to 5000 tons of fillets annually.
