HB Grandi awarded title of Outstanding Icelandic fishing company

The Icelandic Fishing Industry Awards took place for the fifth time at the recent Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition 2011, which closed in the Smárinn exhibition hall in Kópavogur last week. Among the winners this time was HB Grandi, which was awarded recognition as a Outstanding Icelandic Fishing Company by the awards committee, according to the company.

The awards are backed by the exhibition itself and by industry publications World Fishing and Fiskifréttir. The award took place in the Gerdarsafn museum in Kópavogur, and these awards are given to companies that have achieved outstanding success in the fisheries and seafood industries both in Iceland and overseas. A total of 17 awards are available on each occasion and winners are able to use the award logo as part of their publicity.

According to the awards committee that decided to reward HB Grandi for its success: ‘HB Grandi is one of the finest fishing companies in Iceland. It operates a fleet of twelve vessels that includes five freezer trawlers, three fresher trawlers and four pelagic vessels. The company has consistently been run with imagination and efficiency, with a strong emphasis on using the best and latest technology in both fishing and processing.'
