Third factory trawler floated by Russian yard for NOREBO Group
The Northern Yard based in St-Petersburg has floated the newbuilding factory trawler Kapitan Ostashkov for NOREBO Group. The vessel was ordered by member company JSC "Karelian seafood", reports MegaFishnet.com.
According to the yard, the delivery of the trawler is scheduled for 2022. Now the partial metallization of the hull has been completed, as well as the preliminary alignment of the shaft line. The ship is loaded with main large-sized equipment, including freezers, a fish reduction plant and pumps. Three cranes and winches are installed, pipelines are being laid, foundations are being installed for the fish factory. On the eve of the ship’s launching, the ship's control room was loaded onto it. The cabin is notable for the fact that its contours, shape and composition of the equipment resembles a spacecraft.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sergey Sennikov, Deputy Director of the NOREBO Management Company, noted: "This is the third vessel in our series of ten vessels that is launched, and we see that with each vessel the shipbuilders' competencies are growing. We understand that these are complex orders, but despite the fact that difficulties arise, the Northern Shipyard copes with them. Replenishment of the fleet is very important for us, we operate more than 40 vessels. Our company is waiting for these vessels, they will allow us to fish efficiently, deliver a good product to the market, create good working conditions for our sailors, because these vessels are at a completely different level of technical equipment compared to the fleet that was built earlier."
Like all vessels of the series, Captain Ostashkov has a characteristic capsule-like shape of the bow tip. This decision of the naval architects from Nautic Rus is supposed to increase the working space and improve the seaworthiness of the vessel.
After launching, completion work onboard Captain Ostashkov will go on. As for the delivery dates, the transfer of the trawler to the customer is expected in 2023.
A series of factory trawlers of unlimited sea navigation under the project 170701, which is being built by the Northern Shipyard for the NOREBO Group, consists of ten vessels, six of them will work in the Northern Basin, and four – in the Far East. For the first time, a new hull architecture was applied for Russian fishing vessels — a capsule-like shape of the bow contours with an Enduro Bow type tip. The decision helps increase the onboard working area and improve the vessel’s seaworthiness.
