Russian combine boosting range of ready-to-eat products from Pacific sardine

Vladivostok-based fishing and processing combine Antey is boosting production of ready-to-eat items from Pacific sardine (iwashi) Sardinops melanostictus on its Moscow factory, reports www.megafishnet.com (welcome to our new marketplace www.impexglobal.ru).

In Moscow Antey produces marinated products, cold smoked sardine from own catches and other products. The factory has proved its efficiency and the company plans construction of several plants of similar kind in Russia.

Iwashi sardine has a strong potential in terms of the stock’s biomass and potential harvest, though it is really a challenge for the fleet to deliver it uninjured and fit for processing for consumption purposes. In the meantime, Pacific sardine is a healthy product 100 grams of which contains a daily need in Omega3, vitamins, fatty acids, zinc and phosphorus.
