McDonald's to source local seafood for new restaurants in the Russian Far East

DVRP LLC established recently by McDonald's Corporation has become a resident of the Free Port of Vladivostok to profit from tax and other benefits for the project of extending its restaurant network to the special area, reports Megafishnet.com.

The subsidiary was registered on 19 November 2020 in Vladivostok with a capital of RUR 500 million and, according to the signed investment agreement with the Far East development Corporation, DVRP LLC will initially open the first McDonald's fast food businesses by the end of December 2020.

McDonald's has ambitious plans for development in the Russian Far East, but at the first stage it will open five establishments in Vladivostok and Khabarovsk.

Some 99% of McDonald's products are made in Russia with 160 local suppliers engaged in deliveries. The company's immediate plans for the Far East are also to develop the base of local suppliers.

For example, 13 million of the Filet-o-fish sandwiches sold annually at McDonald's in Russia are made from pollock caught in accordance with the standards of the Marine Stewardship Council in the Sea of Okhotsk.

According to JSC "KRDV", today 2117 residents conduct investment activities at the territories of the Free Port of Vladivostok. The total cost of the ongoing projects exceeds USD13.5 billion.
