Iceland: Total catch in July was 93 thousand tonnes

The overall catch of Icelandic vessels in July was 93,551 tonnes, a 27% increase from July 2017. Demersal catch was just over 34 thousand tonnes, an increase of 16%, of which cod amounted to 19,681 tonnes, 16% more than in July 2017. Pelagic catch increased by 37%, mostly blue-whiting and mackerel. Flatfish catch was 3,577 tonnes and shellfish catch was 1,912 tonnes.

In the 12 month period from August 2017 to July 2018 the total catch was just under 1,286 thousand tonnes, a decrease of 11% compared with the same period a year earlier.

The price value index was 15% higher than in July 2017.
