June 25, 2021 09:51

The Murmansk Sea Fish Port will receive new modern coldstores and a container site as part of its modernization plan, announced the head of Federal Agency for Fishery (FAF) Ilya Shestakov during a working visit to the Murmansk region, reports Megafishnet.com.

"We plan to start investment projects in the near future in order to build new modern coldstores and a container site. This is important for us from the point of view of shipments by the Northern Sea Route," Shestakov said, adding that the current state of the Murmansk fish port is not up to the mark.

According to FAF, the port infrastructure needs to be put in order, including with the help of investors and their projects on the territory of the enterprise. Along these lines, several projects for the development of the port are being worked out by the National Fish Resource Company subordinate to FAF.

The first steps for the port’s development have already been made with a big crab harvester  Antey LLC launching the first phase of a crab processing facility for the company’s catch.

Earlier, the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic reported that one of the projects on the territory of the Murmansk Sea Fish Port will be the construction by Antey of a production building with workshops for processing crab and fish, tanks for holding live catch, a boiler room, a multi-temperature automated warehouse for the one-time storage of 1,000 tons of finished products. The complex will occupy an area of more than 8.5 thousand square meters. It is planned to fully launch it by the end of 2024.
