Salmon aquaculture in Russia targeted to grow several times by 2030

By the year 2030 Russian salmon and trout farms are expected to produce 185,000 metric tons of salmons, 2.5 times up from the current result of 66,600 tonnes.

In 2018 commodity aquaculture in Russia was dominated by carp species – 145,000 tonnes or 61%, followed by salmon and trout with 66,600 tonnes (28%). Other species account for 5% or 12,800 tonnes, invertebrates – 4% (10,000 tonnes) and kelp – 2% (4,500 tonnes).

As compared to 2005 Russia’s total aquaculture output jumped three times to 239,000 tonnes.
