Seafood farms in Russia’s south to enjoy 200mln-strong investments

Azov-Don Sturgeon Company Ltd from Bataysk, Rostov region, Russia will invest about 200 million rubles (3.1 million USD) into construction of a sturgeon farm in the Azov region and in raising mussels and oysters in the Crimea.

The Crimean project will take off in May this year, investments are estimated at 120 million rubles. The annual output will be 300 metric tons of mussels and 5.5 million oysters. The first bivalves will be stocked in October and the first harvest of oysters is expected in September next year, mussels - later in the same year. Location of the construction site is undisclosed.

The second project of the sturgeon farm will cost the company 70 million rubles. The farm will be built this May. It will grow at least 100 tons of commodity fish per year and produce more than 4.5 metric tons of caviar.
