Amended law on fishery to favour law-abiding quota holders

At a recent congress of the Russian fishermen in Vladivostok head of the Russian State Fisheries Committee Andrey Krainy said that the amended Federal Law on Fishery and Conservation of Aquatic Biological Resources should be approved until 16 December 2007, according to ANN.

The amendments, in particular, cover distribution of the quota shares for a period of at least ten years. The enhanced entitlement will be applicable only to law-abiding companies engaged in legal fishing operations, the fishery head underlined.
