Aker Biomarine: Application for krill trawl licence

May 3, 2011 12:58

Aker BioMarine has delivered an application for krill trawl licence in the Southern Ocean with the vessel Antarctic Navigator. Antarctic Navigator is owned by a wholly owned subsidiary of Aker ASA, but may be acquired by Aker BioMarine at market value, if Aker BioMarine is awarded a krill trawl licence, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Aker Biomarine.

Our significant effort in developing new products and open up new markets provides a platform for realisation of the business plan to operate with two trawlers, says CEO Hallvard Muri. He adds that the company not in any way take for granted that it will be awarded licence for an additional vessel, but hopes that Aker BioMarine through its substantial efforts in promoting sustainable and environmental friendly utilisation of the available resources and market development has shown that the company is a serious and long-term player, who, with two licences, can promote Norwegian interests in the increasing competition for bio marine products. It is assumed that the application will be processed within the end of June.
