AUXILIAR CONSERVERA SA (AUCOSA from here on). AUCOSA was founded in 1959 by several canning companies from the south of Galicia (North-west Spain) At the present time we are involved in three main activities
- Full-line fresh-frozen trade and distribution
- Cold storage provider (14000 cubic metres or 4.000 Tm)
- Fishmeal and fish oil producer
AUCOSA is based at the heart of the fish industries where all fish companies are also based with its cold-storage facilities. We also have a factory where fishmeal and fish oil is produced 15 km (10 mi) away from Vigo´s city centre.
Regarding the cold storage facilities, we have been in this business for around 50 years, therefore we do have experience in the frozen-fish market.
Although we trade on a full-line fresh-frozen basis, our main products:
- Mackerel (scombrus scombrus), herring, brotola - Agreements with shipowners that work in the North of Spain collecting their product daily with the following classification that takes place in our facilities in order to transfer them later on to our cold-storage.
- Daily auctions of the following fresh-frozen species: swordfish, blueshark, merlin, oilfish, and yellowfin tuna...
- With the species mentioned above, we have also our own elaboration room where it can be prepared in slices, loins, minced or just peeled.
- Finance of the whole season of a boat, so all the catch belongs to us.
- Agreements with Uruguay and Argentinean companies for shortfin squid (illex argentinus) and hake (merlucius hubbis and merlucius capensis)
