Russian vets strengthening control of fish products from Canada / November 12, 2010 15:00

Due to discovery of forbidden and harmful substances in fish and non-finfish products coming to the Russian Federation the nation's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) has strengthened control of products imported from fish processing plants of Canada, reports http://www.megafishnet.com/with reference to the Service.

More specifically, according to the Service's Directive FS-GK - 4/13681 dated 2 November 2010, the following plants are subject to strengthened veterinary control:

-Plant No. 977

-plant No. 1933 (due to discovery Staphylococcus aureus in frozen hake).

Besides, as of 15 November 2010 importation of fish, fish products and non-finfish products from the Canadian plant No. 3199 (due to excessive content of mercury in cooked frozen shrimps) has been temporary restricted.
