Freezer trawler Höfrungur III AK docked in Akureyri late last night, as the ship is there for dry-docking. The vessel docked in Reykjavík last Monday with 9500 cartons in its fishroom, after having completed a half-landing in Reykjavík ten days earlier, making the trip’s total 12,300 cartons...

‘The trip started slowly and it seems that the herring are moving out of the shallow. As soon as we shifted into deeper water the fishing improved and there was some good fishing last night,’ said Stefán Geir Jónsson, who is skippering Lundey NS for this trip, when he arrived  in Vopnafjördur this morning. He estimated a catch of around 560 tonnes, of which 100 tonnes is mackerel caught the night before last.

All four of HB Grandi’s freezer trawlers, after starting fishing on the 10th of May, managed to finish their redfish quotas before the Seamen’s Day weekend. This year’s quota was small at 2600 tonnes, or 650 tonnes per trawler
All three of HB Grandi’s pelagic vessels called at Vopnafjördur this weekend after their first trip deep south of the Faroes. Faxi RE landed late on Friday night, docking with 1500 tonnes of blue whiting on board,while Lundey NS followed on Sunday with 1600 tonnes and finally Ingunn AK arrived late on Sunday night with 2000 tonnes in its tanks. This totals 5000 tonnes of blue whiting landed at Vopnafjördur this last weekend
Three of HB Grandi’s pelagic vessels, Ingunn AK, Lundey NS and Faxi RE are now searching for blue whiting on fishing grounds south of the Faroe Islands. Ingunn and Lundey have already been there for two days, while Faxi has just arrived on the fishing grounds. So far they have not been successful finding any blue whiting
Purse seiner Víkingur AK is now fishing on capelin off Hornafjördur, and this follows the decision to increase the capelin quota for this season when it looked as if the additional catching capacity would be needed, according to HB Grandi...

Russia is not exploiting considerable fish stocks in its Southern Fisheries because of lacking infrastructure and facilities
