The parties discussed the forthcoming mutual inspections of livestock producers taking place on January 20 - 27 and the work on assessing the export control activities of veterinary services. In particular, during this period the Rosselkhoznadzor experts will visit two fish processing establishments interested in product supplies to Russia. The Philippine experts, in turn, will get an insight into the activities of poultry and pig production establishments, livestock farms in the Moscow and Bryansk regions, and also make a working visit to the well-known in Russia and abroad Research Institute FGBI “ARRIAH”.
Carlos Sorreta stressed that the Philippines is extremely interested in establishing a balanced bilateral trade with Russia. In particular, the country considers the establishment of poultry and bovine supplies from Russia as a very promising direction, but pork and pork offal, which are in great demand in this country, are of particular interest to the Philippines.
Carlos Sorreta also noted that the Philippines is eagerly awaiting the Russian inspection and stressed that the fish products produced in the country are of high quality and meet all the veterinary and sanitary requirements of the countries to which they are exported, including the European Union and Japan.
Konstantin Savenkov said that in recent years Russia has carried out tremendous work to develop pig production and strengthen the biological protection of pig-breeding establishments. In addition, the country currently produces enough poultry and fish to cover domestic demand and exports to international markets, pays serious attention to supporting producers of high-quality beef, feeds and veterinary drugs, is the world's largest supplier of grain. In all these areas Russia is ready to establish a trade partnership with the Philippines. For this purpose, during the inspection, the Rosselkhoznadzor intends to demonstrate all aspects of state veterinary control, including a well-developed network of laboratories, scientific institutes, a system of regionalization, compartmentalization, and commonly implemented electronic certification. Besides, the agency is ready to provide consulting support to the exchange of students in the field of agricultural sciences, if this proves to be of interest to the Philippines.
The Rosselkhoznadzor also stressed that, for its part, it intends to thoroughly inspect the system of veterinary surveillance of the exported products of the Philippines, including the assessment of state monitoring, laboratory control and other activities of the competent department.
In conclusion, the parties noted that such mutual inspections and active joint work are the basis for expanding trade cooperation between Russia and the Philippines.
