From 1999, Nireus had expanded into the confectionery sector. The traditional Fruits covered in heavy syrup through SARANTIS S.A., a business development that was rewarded in 2003 by the entrance of SARANTIS S.A. in the Athens Stock Exchange. On the 27/12/2007, SARANTIS S.A. was sold to VANIS – RORRIS Investments S.A implementing NIREUS` business plan on the concentration of the Group’s activities on Aquaculture.
In 2004 SARANTIS merged with NIREUS` subsidiary company which is a Fish Feed company called FEEDUS S.A. At the end of 2004, recomposing its business unit, NIREUS merged with FEEDUS S.A. its aim was creating a Group that has full supplementary activities in the Aquaculture sector.
In 2006, NIREUS had established its operations in Turkey by acquiring the company IKLNAK A.S. Then, following, in the beginning of 2007, it penetrated the Spanish market where it acquired PREDOMAR S.A. On the 15/01/07 a pre-agreement contract was signed with KEGO S.A., which specializes in producing fish feed. On 05/03/07 the acquirement of 51% of KEGO’s stock was signed. On 14/05/07 NIREUS S.A. acquired another 33,344% stock of the listed company in Oslo-Norway called Marine Farms ASA. The Norwegian company produces Mediterranean fishery (Sea Bream – Sea Bass) in Spain, Salmon in Scotland, Cobia in Central America and Vietnam, and cod juvenile with a hatchery in Scotland.
NIREUS operates fully verticalized, owning hatcheries, on-growing farms, two fish feed plants, fishery-processing units and fish farming equipment services, in Greece, Turkey and Spain. It pioneers, the investment in new markets and products, having a healthy financial and business structure. It’s experienced staff, that today reaches approximately 1.250 people.
NIREUS is listed in the A.S.E. since 1995, and since 1998 it is listed in the Main Market of A.S.E. participating in the FTSE ASE 80 index.
In the business field, NIREUS has been awarded with many International Organizations` awards, recognizing the company’s high-quality products and its exporting dynamism. It has achieved a sales growth rate and operational profits over 19% and over 10% respectively, from 1997 up to 2005.
As a result, today it holds the highest position in the fish-farming sector in terms of volume – production, sales, operational and net profit.
The Group’s main activities as of today are juveniles and market size fish production, along with the marketing and distribution in both Greece and abroad. The high equipment production stately, cages and nets for fish farming units, fish feed production and distribution, and processed fishery production and distribution. |
